UFC Fight Night St. Louis – Just a bunch of good fights on free cable TV

The UFC octagon makes its first visit to St. Louis, Missouri on Sunday night as Iowa native Jeremy Stephens faces “The Korean Superboy” Doo Ho Choi in the main event. This card is really just a good night of fights that people can watch after a packed weekend of NFL Playoff Games. So, if you are a fan of teams of people getting physical contact with one another than you can lighten your flow into the work week by watching some vicious human cockfighting (Shoutout Robbie Fox).

Kamaru Usman (-700) Vs. Emil Meek (+525)

Kamaru Usman is the unsung hero of the welterweight division. He won TUF 21 and amassed a record of 6-0 inside the promotion. His main problem is that no one of note wants to fight him. For Usman to be pushed more by the UFC marketing machine, he needs a finish. In his 6 UFC wins only two of them were via finish. After seeing his victory over Sergio Moraes in September, I believe that Kamaru has the ability to force his will upon pretty much anyone at welterweight. For Norway’s favorite son Emil Meek to win on Sunday, he is going to need to use his explosiveness to put the pressure on Usman and make sure his takedown defense is on point. In the end (-700) favorites don’t usually lose and Usman is a perfect example of someone who warrants those odds. Kamaru Usman Def. Emil Meek

Paige VanZant (-110) Vs. Jessica Rose-Clark (-110)

This is a pick-em fight, and I don’t necessarily believe that this warrants one. Within the last two years, both of these women fought Bec Rawlings and both defeated her, However, Rose-Clark only defeated Bec by split decision while VanZant had possibly the greatest UFC Strawweight knockout of all time over her. The UFC loves Paige because she is an attractive woman and they love to market her to fans by sending her around the world and partner her with Metro PCS, Monster and Reebok to get Paige more publicity. I believe that is the only reason she would be on the main card over Elkins/Johnson as those two featherweights surely deserve main card recognition. I have Paige Winning via some kind of Submission. Uriah Hall (-310) Vs. Vitor Belfort (+260)

Vitor Belfort has three things working against him in St. Louis on Sunday. 1) He is very old and is showing signs of weakness in his game. 2) He is not on TRT. 3) He is not fighting with bias Judges in Brazil. While Uriah Hall is a rather inconsistent opponent I still believe that Vitor will be defeated. Uriah Hall said that the reason’s he was so inconsistent is that he was trying to be too technical and was too inside his own head. In his previous fight against Krzysztof Jotko, he was fighting the way I stated previously and getting mauled in the first round, In the second round he just let his instincts take over and finished Jotko in a dramatic fashion just like he has done previously. If Hall can get another Highlight Reel finish against anyone, it’s Vitor. Uriah Hall Def. Vitor Belfort

(This Fight Just Got Scrapped, Uriah Hall did not show up to weigh in)

Jeremy Stephens (+135) Vs. Doo Ho Choi (-155)

I can not wait. Jeremy “Who Da Fuck is That Guy” Stephens is actually an absolute monster and Do Hoo Choi is a very underwhelming physical specimen who just happens to sleep people when his fist hits their chin. These two I expect to just go to war and I don’t know which one of them will take the cake in this one. Jeremy Stephens is a natural Lightweight and holds victories over current welterweight contender Rafael Dos Anjos and former Strikeforce champion Gilbert Melendez among many others. But Doo Ho Choi was extremely impressive in his wins over Sam Sicilia and Thiago Tavares and in his Fight of the Year winning battle against Cub Swanson. After his fight against Cub Swanson, Choi said in the octagon “If this is what Losing feels like I will train and train and I will never lose again”. I actually do not think this is the case for Choi though because I have the slight upset occurring with a Jeremy Stephens win. I just believe that if Stephens game plans accurately I feel like he won’t be susceptible to Doo Ho Choi’s bombs and even if he does get clipped I don’t think that he will fall because of the weight difference. Jeremy Stephens Def. Doo Ho Choi

Other Selections:

Darren Elkins (+140) Def. Michael Johnson (-160) – I hope this gets moved to the main card. Should’ve been on it anyways

James Krause (-161) Def. Alex White (+141)

Polo Reyes (-190) Def. Matt Frevola (+225)

Alves Vs. Cummings was scrapped as well.

Kalindra Faria (-105) Def. Jessica Eye (-115)

Kyung Ho Kang (-350) Def. Guido Cannetti (+285)
