Middleweight’s go to war – UFC Florida Preview

Sunrise, Florida plays host to this UFC Fight Night on ESPN+, Where some fighters look to take the next step in their careers, some look to keep their UFC career afloat and some look to move into title contention.

Bantamweight: Cory Sandhagen (+120) Vs. John Lineker (-150)

Cory Sandhagen is a strong bantamweight prospect who is on a 3-0 run since entering the promotion finishing all of his fights within 2 rounds. The problem for Sandhagen is that he is facing a man who has been around the promotion for a while and faced the best the sport has to offer at both Bantamweight and Flyweight. We’ve seen Sandhagen outclass his last three opponents who were not on his level, I believe that John Lineker is the perfect test for the young Colorado Prospect and I can see him taking a close decision victory. Cory Sandhagen Def. John Lineker

Light Heavyweight: Glover Teixeira (-120) Vs. Ion Cutelaba (-110)

Ion Cutelaba is a rising star in the Light Heavyweight Division and he has won two straight by absolute destruction, He sent Henrique da Silva to the Nether Realm in 22 Seconds and he seasoned Gadzhimurad Antigulov and Threw him in the oven. The Heavy Hands of Cutelaba will need to be sharp to get around the grappling prowess of Teixiera. This fight is very much a test for Glover. He needs to see if he still has it in him to keep going in this sport. I personally believe that he doesn’t have it anymore and while he still can perform at a decently high level, I can’t see him beating the heavy hitters of the division, I.E. Ion Cutelaba. Ion Cutelaba Def. Glover Teixeira

Welterweight: Mike Perry (+150) Vs. Alex Oliveira (-185)

This fight has violence written all over it. Mike Perry is a loudmouth with a propencity to knock people the hell out and Alex Oliveira is a all around brawler who can get the best out of people standing and on the ground. This to me is Overrated Vs. Underrated. I believe Mike Perry is overrated and really only gets the push from the UFC because his style is entertaining and because he is a loudmouth, while I believe that Alex Oliveira is underrated and doesn’t get the push he deserves from the UFC Marketing Brass is because he doesn’t speak english. Along with Vicente Luque, Alex Oliveira to me is an incredibly underrated and his recent loss to Gunnar Nelson is only making me like the Oliveira pick more and more. Alex Oliveira Def. Mike Perry

Heavyweight: Greg Hardy (-335) Vs. Dmitrii Smolyakov (+255)

Greg Hardy is being fed a Sacrificial Lamb on Saturday in Dmitrii Smolyakov. Like seriously, I don’t know this guy and apparently he was recently cut by the promotion after a few straight losses only to be resigned to lose to Greg Hardy so the UFC can promote their “NFL success story” I’m going to bet with the narrative. Greg Hardy Def. Dmitrii Smolyakov

Middleweight: Ronaldo Souza (-225) Vs. Jack Hermansson (+175)

Jack Hermansson is an up and coming Scandinavian Prospect who is coming off of three straight wins over Thales Leites, Gerald Meerschaert and David Branch. In his win over Thales Leites, he showed incredible heart, he suffered a pretty bad rib injury in the first round and then deflected a bunch of submission attempts while trying to deal with the injury. He ended up winning the fight via TKO in the third round. Now, if he was facing Ronaldo Souza, the submission attempts would likely not be attempts because they’d be successful. Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza is 39 but his age was definitely not showing when he knocked out Chris Weidman back in November. Jack Hermansson is no Chris Weidman, Jacare will win and get a title shot. Ronaldo Souza Def. Jack Hermansson
