UFC Stockholm Preview – Sweden’s Favorite Son takes on Anthony Smith

Sweden hosts the next UFC fight night, which is really on Saturday morning but whatever. It’s happening in Stockholm, the capital, and a place that Gustafsson has headlined before, He took on Anthony Johnson in the Main Event here once and got brutally finished by “Rumble”. He made up for that by defeating Glover Teixeira in his next headline spot there. Now, he faces a hybrid of those two opponents in Anthony Smith.

Aleksander Rakic (-200) Vs. Jimi Manuwa (+160)

Aleksander Rakic is an unknown worldbeater, and he finally faces an opponent who is up to his level in competition. Rakic Fought Justin Ledet back in July of 2018 and won on the judges scorecards 30-24. For those of you who don’t know that’s absolute annihilation, like Khabib over Barboza levels of Annihilation. Unfortunately for him, he now takes on a motivated knockout artist who has been on the wrong kind of streak and looking to end it. Jimi Manuwa recently lost to Volkan Oezdemir, Jan Blachowicz and Thiago Santos and while all of them seemed to be legitimate, Jimi can still throw with the best of them. I’m picking Rakic to win by Unanimous Decision, however it would not surprise me if Manuwa cracks him. Aleksander Rakic Def. Jimi Manuwa

Anthony Smith (+245) Vs. Alexander Gustafsson (-315)

Smith has a very good well rounded game, as opposed to Gustafsson’s other Stockholm opponents who were specialists to a specific martial art. Smith also has much more in-cage experience than anyone else Gustafsson has faced, so Smith will likely identify Gustafsson’s strategies quickly and try to take advantage of them. Smith’s problem is that he cant rely on any shortcoming’s of Gustafsson’s to win. Gus trains with LHW killers in Ilir Latifi, Jimi Manuwa and Gokhan Saki regularly and has seemingly no holes in his game. Because, I think Alexander Gustafsson is the best fighter in the UFC to never win a title I’m picking him to win on Saturday by decision. Alexander Gustafsson Def. Anthony Smith
