UFC Uruguay Preview – Easy Main Event prediction.

The UFC octagon once again moves to South America and this time lands in Montevideo, Uruguay. ESPN+ Gets a title fight headliner for a change and the rest of the card really only has two fights that are notable. At Light Heavyweight, Ilir Latifi and Volkan Oezdemir look to rebound after tough losses. Vicente Luque and Mike Perry are looking to rise in/into the rankings. And Valentina Shevchenko is looking to defend her title against the only fighter to ever finish her.

Light Heavyweight: Ilir Latifi (+120) Vs. Volkan Oezdemir (-150)

Volkan Oezdemir is 0-2 since fighting Daniel Cormier for the Light Heavyweight title at UFC 220. However, Many people thought that he won in his last time out where Dominick Reyes ended up taking a split decision. Ilir latifi last fought in December when he lost a unanimous decision to Corey Anderson in a rather lackluster fight. I have a feeling that Latifi takes this one. Oezdemir’s wins were over aging veterans Jimi Manuwa, Misha Cirkunov and to an extent Ovince St. Preux. Latifi has the grappling prowess to really push Oezdemir and I feel like he will exploit his weakness there. Ilir Latifi Def. Volkan Oezdemir

Welterweight: Mike Perry (+175) Vs. Vicente Luque (-225)

Anyone who reads what I write on here know I think the world of Vicente Luque as an MMA Prospect. I feel like he is easily the most overlooked contender at 170 and even in the UFC as a whole. Mike Perry is an improved version of himself after cross-training at Jackson-Wink MMA and he was very impressive in his win over Alex Oliveira who is certainly no slouch at 170 pounds. I’m going with Vicente Luque here, which shouldn’t come as a surprise. Vicente should face a top ten opponent with a win and I’ll take it personally if he doesn’t. Vicente Luque Def. Mike Perry

Women’s Flyweight Championship: Liz Carmouche (+700) Vs. Valentina Shevchenko (-1200)

Pretty Easy one. The UFC needed a big fight for a main event here. Shevchenko doesn’t have the star power needed to headline a UFC PPV and she has connections to South America. Liz Carmouche gave Shevchenko her first loss so you can use the redemption/revenge story as a way to get viewers. Don’t watch for that reason. Watch because Shevchenko is a badass and might kick another head off on Saturday. Valentina Shevchenko Def. Liz Carmouche
